How do you dress in your bed? We would be able to make our bed-making easier and have a better experience.

“The bed is the center of any bedroom. It creates a cozy atmosphere that makes it difficult to leave.”

We are grateful to have spoken with the UK’s top bedding experts to help us dress our bed as professional-looking as possible. Plus, we share some styling tips that will make your bed look like something out of a magazine.

1. High-quality bedding.

Bedding is a commodity. You get what you pay. Good-quality bedding should be filled with high-quality material.

Pure cotton bed linen with a high thread count is a great investment to achieve a crisp, clean hotel look.

Lucy says that 100 percent cotton products are naturally breathable and help regulate your temperature and moisture levels. This stops the clammy feeling synthetic fibers can give you. High thread count fabrics feel smoother against your skin. This makes them less likely to cling to nightwear or get tangled up.

2. Reversible duvet covers.

A reversible duvet cover is a great investment if you love prints or just like to change up your look on a regular basis. This cover not only offers two design options but also adds an interesting feature to the bed when the duvet top is turned down.

It’s not about using bold patterns or color-blocking shapes. A reversible duvet covers can be used to create a luxurious hotel look with white on white. Simply keep the design simple and stick to stripes or polka dots on the reverse.

3. Pillow talk.

Lucy suggests that you use two pillows for a double bed. Make sure to fluff the pillows before placing them on top of your duvet, with the open side facing outward. You can upgrade your pillows by purchasing a few pillow shams that match your bedding. To give your hotel a five-star look, place the pillow shams over your regular pillows.

When styling a bed, a common question is whether pillows should be placed above or below the duvet.

“When styling for photo shoots or in customers’ homes, one pillow should be placed underneath the duvet and one on top. The top pillow gives a final look and feels while the duvet can be pulled back on the lower pillow.

Remember to coordinate your pillows with the duvet. Nic Shacklock at Online-Bedrooms.co.uk elaborates: ‘The bottom two pillows should match your fitted bottom sheet in material and colour to achieve a super cohesive bedspread. Your duvet should match the top pillows.

4. Bedspreads.

A bedspread or two can add colour and texture to your bedroom. Georgia explains how to:

“Bedspreads look great when combined, one plain and one patterned. Choose a key color for your patterned bedspread, bedroom curtains, wallcoverings, or artwork. This colour can be used in the lower bedspread. It can cover your entire bed or just part of it. Next, lay the plain bedcover on top. It should be half-width. This will create a thin panel of the pattern. This will give you a coordinated and thoughtful aesthetic straight out of an interior designer’s book!

5. Throws.

Throws can still be a great styling tool for beds. However, it should not be too neatly folded along its bottom. Throws should be casually draped around the corner and look more informal.

It’s all about adding soft, textural layers to the bed. “I prefer crepe materials because they have a soft and tactile aspect.

Don’t limit yourself to one color. A bedspread can be made from two throws of different colours and textures.

6. Cushion love.

For a stylish and well-designed bed, layering cushions are a must. How many?

Lucy suggests that you choose between three to six pillows, depending on your preference and the width of your bed. She also recommends that you group them by size, with the largest being at the front and the smallest at the back.

Georgia says that cushions are great for removing gaps between pillows. They also make it easy to bring the entire bedroom together. You can choose a color, motif, or style that you like from your bedroom and make it into a cushion design.

7. Layering.

Layering and texture are key to successful bed styling. Layering bedding and accessories is key to achieving a casual elegance. Linen is an excellent choice if you want a relaxed look. It doesn’t require ironing.

8. Attention to detail.

It is all about paying attention to details when dressing beds. A button, exposed zip, or piped edge can give your bed an extra touch of elegance. It is also important to consider what lies below. A flat sheet with old-school hospital corners makes a great detail, especially in a guest bedroom at Christmas.

9. Retire to the couch.

To create that cozy, “can’t wait” feeling, fluff up your pillows and duvets and give them their plump.

Jessica Hanley, creator of luxury comfort brand Piglet In Bed, comments: “Turning down the mattress might seem tedious. But really, it’s easy. All you need to do is fold your duvet down and fluff up your pillows so that your bed is ready for you to get into. If you make this a part of your daily routine, it will help to get your mind ready to sleep. It can help a lot to keep your bedroom clean and your sheets fresh.

10. Final touches.

To help you sleep peacefully, invest in a bed spray. Jessica says to spray the linen spray liberally throughout the room.
