It is a common problem to smash the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. You’ve been there. The screen is cracked.

These tips are for fixing iPhone screens that are clearly broken. You can fix an iPhone screen that is frozen if it stops responding to your touch or doesn’t work.
Apple will repair your screen
Apple will repair your cracked screen for you, but this is not covered under the standard warranty.
AppleCare+ is worth the investment if you are willing to go the extra mile. The cost of AppleCare+ won’t be prohibitive. AppleCare+ covers accidental damage up to two times. There is an additional fee. No matter the model of their iPhone, users will need to pay PS25/$29 for repairs. All other repairs will cost a flat rate at PS79/$99.
If you don’t have AppleCare+, your screen repair cost will be higher. Get in touch with Apple to find out what their charges would be for your case. Visit the Apple Screen Repair website to get an idea of the costs for different models. Here are some examples to help you get an idea of what to expect.
- iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS Max: PS316.44/$329
- iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro. iPhone XS, iPhone XS: PS266.44/$279

To check the price of your specific tablet, you can also visit Apple iPad Screen Repairs. Repair costs can vary greatly. The iPad Pro 12.9in (4th generation) is the most expensive at PS616.44/$649, while the iPad Mini 2 and iPad Mini 2 are the least expensive at PS206.44/$199.
This is a good option. You can read Apple’s policies here and here on iphone screen repair in melbourne. However, many people will look for a more affordable repair. What other options are there?
Visit a high-street store
The high street. All your needs met, including screen repairs for iPhones or iPads.
Because most people prefer the personal touch of a high street repair service, they will take their phone or tablet to them. The other argument for the “high street vs. online” argument is that you can complain if something goes wrong with a high street repair (unlike most online services).
Covid-19 has made it more difficult to access this service in recent years. Before you go out with your broken device, make sure to check with any retailer.
We recommend high-street repair shops. However, there have been instances where iPhones have been repaired and some replacement screens have become unresponsive to touch. Other elements have stopped working because Apple seems to match components on each device. This was reported by iFixit. This is only applicable to iPhone 12 models. However, we recommend that you discuss it with any repairer before they begin work.
Third-party repair companies have been suspect for some time now. Apple has decided to disable functionality in order to prevent third-party repairs.
The law protects the right to repair using a third party. There are also laws in the EU courts that protect consumers from the aggresive behavior of companies such as Apple.
Team Knowhow (Carphone Warehouse/Currys PC World).
We recommend Team Knowhow, which is available in certain Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse stores. This company offers Apple certified screen repair, which is rare on the Sydney road in the Coburg. It’s a better option than cheaper options such as JMC Computers, because repairs by Team Knowhow won’t void the Apple warranty.
Team Knowhow will send your iPhone directly to Apple. However, prices are also lower than Apple’s so that you can get a repair cheaper from Apple. This company uses only genuine Apple parts. Your iPhone warranty will not be voided by using this service. All customers are covered with a 90-day guarantee after any repairs.
Team KnowHow states that Apple currently requests that iPhones be returned to them for repairs. However, we will exchange your iPhone for a refurbished unit from Apple within the warranty period.
The company provides standard screen replacements. Quotes are available when you call the store. However, Team Knowhow, an Apple Store approved repair provider, can also perform warranty repairs completely free of cost.
We tried the service on a broken iPhone 7 Plus. It was excellent. You can drop off your device and pick it up, provided the store is open according to the Pandemic guidelines.
But here’s the catch. The catch? It’s not available in all stores. You can check if one is available near you. Anyone interested should go straight to the store without appointment.
Timpsons
Timpsons, a high-street retailer, has added screen repair services to a variety of stores. We recommend calling your local branch immediately to avoid disappointment. You can also use the store locator by setting the filter to “Phone and Tablet Repairs” to avoid disappointment.
Although this is a cheaper option than Apple, your warranty will not be affected and the parts are not genuine Apple components. The company lists the costs for replacing a screen on its website under the Mobile Phone Repair section. Prices range from PS49.95 for an iPhone SE to PS399.95 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 range is not yet available, but it could be related to the issues discussed above.
Timpsons advises that screen repairs for iPhones should be done within 24 hours. However, tablet repairs may take longer. There may be delays in either case if staff order parts or the Covid situation gets worse.
All this sounds great, check out Timpsons’ screen-repair services.
Screen repairs on high-streets have down sides
Timpsons is an established brand. But what about the smaller high-street shops that promise to fix your iPhone? High-street retailers can be risky because you won’t know who is handling your iPhone and what they are doing with it.
People want to keep their private lives secret. What is the center of most people’s life? Smartphones. Smartphones are the heart of our digital world. You are giving your iPhone to a high street retailer and there is a chance that your data could also be viewed and stored remotely. For business users, it could be dangerous to not have security regulations in small independent shops.
It is easy to find replacement screen parts online and they are quite affordable. This is because cheaper parts and screens tend to be more likely to fail than official Apple parts. What does this mean? It means more trips to the shop to have it fixed and more money spent. You should question how it’s possible for a high-street store to charge as low as PS40 to replace your iPhone XR screen.
Send your device online to repair
An online repair service is the next option. These allow you to send your device to the company who will then repair it and return it to you. These are an excellent option, given the turmoil that Covid has caused in the world. They don’t require the shops to be open.
JMC Computers
JMC Computers is a popular repairer of this type. It has a reputation for being a fast, affordable, and inexpensive iPhone repair service. It does a good job. However, Apple warranty is voided and they won’t use Apple approved parts.
An example of the cost of an iPhone 11 screen replacement is the price of a standard repair. This comes with a three-month warranty. The PS185 Premium service offers a lifetime guarantee, TrueTone displays and other benefits.
If you live in Melbourne, JMC Computers offers a walk-in service. There are shops around Melbourne – at Sydney Road and Coburg well. This means you can make an appointment and bring your Apple device to the store. The repair will be done the same day.
Repair your device at home
You could use PhoneDudes and Repairly to repair your home up until the introduction of Covid. Both of these companies have since closed their doors, possibly because they couldn’t cope with the lockdown restrictions that could have cost them their business. It is unknown if we will see a return of the door-to–door repairman, but it is likely not in the near future.
DIY repairs
There are many DIY options if your screen damage is not just cosmetic. There are many home remedies available for scratches on your screen (not cracks). This includes toothpaste. There are also car scratch removal creams like the 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover, which apparently does wonders for a scratched screen. You don’t want liquid damage on your screen.
Another option is available, but it’s not for everyone. iFixit offers tutorials to fix any iPhone part (and other articles similar to the iPad). These tutorials are clear and simple to follow with high-resolution photos that clearly show what you need. You can also buy all the parts from them directly after you find the tutorial that you are looking for. This makes it less likely that you will buy the wrong part.
Pay attention to the difficulty rating for each tutorial. Your technical skills should be a confidence builder, as unauthorised repairs to your iPhone could void your warranty and Apple will not touch it.
