1. SHIELD NATURAL RATTAN FROM RAIN AND SUN
Natural rattan should be kept indoors. If you plan to use it outdoors, make sure it is stored in a shed. If it gets wet, natural rattan can mold. Even if the rattan is dry, the sun can bleach it. You can cover it with a furniture cover if you don’t want to take it out and back in every day. The synthetic alternative doesn’t require you to be concerned about this.
2. CLEAN IT IF REQUIRED
Both synthetic and natural rattan can be cleaned easily. You can clean them with mild soapy water. Natural sets can be protected from water damage by washing them with soapy water and wiping them off gently with a cloth. You should remove any stains immediately. You can use an old toothbrush to get into the crevices and grooves. Natural rattan is more difficult to maintain and take care of due to the possibility of mold.
3. INVEST IN A COVER
You can get the most out of your furniture by investing in covers that provide additional protection from rain, dust and general wear. Your covers will make it easier to clean up after bad weather and prevent potential stains.
4. WASH YOUR CUSHIONS MANUALLY
Cushions in rattan furniture sets will require more frequent cleaning than the actual rattan. You can wash most cushions and rattan furniture cushion covers in the washer and hang them out to dry. However, make sure you read the label before you put it in the washer.
If the rattan isn’t stained, it can be cleaned every few months. However, pillows that are starting to get dirty will require extra attention.
